Iron Sharpens Iron

People are an enormous part of the journey of life and faith. Consider your family, your closest friends, associates from work, or those you serve with at church… people are a factor in everything we do.

Proverbs 27:17 (NIV) says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

So… how are the circles of people in your life?

Are there people around you that you are learning from and being sharpened by? Are those closest to you pushing you toward God or away from His plans and purposes for your life?

SELAH (Pause, think, reflect)

People are among the biggest blessings that God has given to each one of us. We were created for community, and a godly community always makes us better.

What could life look like if you surrounded yourself with people that make you better in the most important areas of your life? Remember,  Iron sharpens iron. We all need others to be where God wants us to be.

Today, you also have the opportunity to be a blessing to someone else and to push them further into their God-given calling. Just like we need people, people need us.

PRAYER (Pray this out loud)

Lord, I pray that You would help me evaluate the health of my relationships. Surround me with people who will push me further into Your plans and purposes. Allow me to be someone that sharpens those around me. Give me the opportunity to encourage others in the calling that you have for them. Amen.

“Iron sharpens iron.”
