Life is not a performance.
Psalm 147:10-11 (NLT) says, “He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might. No, the Lord’s delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love.”
Oftentimes we can easily slip into a “performance” type of mindset in all kinds of different areas of our lives. We can be tempted to make things seem better than they really are, or we can sometimes try to meet some demand that God never actually put on us.
But what if instead of trying to perform, we learned to hope in the unfailing love of God?
SELAH (Pause, think, reflect)
We don’t need to mask the truth, or constantly fret over putting our best foot forward. We aren’t called to try to make things in our lives seem better than they actually are. Life is not a performance and there are no awards for acting our way through it.
Instead, we can be authentic about our life, our abilities, our work, ministry, calling, and more; and we can choose to hope in the unfailing love of God in the entire process.
PRAYER (Pray this out loud)
Lord, help me to remember that life is not a performance. When I forget, remind me to hope in Your unfailing love once again. Give me a fresh perspective this week and help me continue to trust You in every area of my life. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.
“Life is not a performance.”
