Who We Worship

A revelation of who God is will impact your worship of Him in incredible ways. The greater you know Him, the more you will worship Him.

There’s an incredible moment in the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus asked his disciples who people thought he was and what was being said about Him.

The conversation continued and in Matthew 16:15-17 (NIV) it says, “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.”

The question for us today is the same… who do you say Jesus is? Do you have a revelation of who He is?

SELAH (Pause, think, reflect)

Understanding worship first consists of understanding who we worship. God’s self-revelation is our entire basis for worship.

Today, take a moment and consider who Jesus is. Be encouraged to know that He wants to reveal Himself to you. This is the first step in understanding the heart of worship.

PRAYER (Pray this out loud)
God, thank You that You reveal Yourself. Help me move from a head knowledge about You, or from what others say about You, to revelation of the truth. Reveal Yourself to me in greater and greater ways. Amen.

“God’s self-revelation is our entire basis for worship.”
