God is more concerned with who you are than what you do.
1 John 3:2 (ESV) says, “Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.”
Though what we do is truly important, sometimes we can elevate doing above becoming. The truth is, who we are is constantly in a state of becoming. In Christ, we find our true identity, yet the Lord calls us to become more and more like Him as we live out our daily lives.
The tough question is, have you let what you do take precedence over who you are becoming?
SELAH (Pause, think, reflect)
Remember today, in the middle of all you do God still wants you to become like Him. His focus for us is on who we are and who we are becoming, not simply what we do for Him.
He calls each of us to continue growing into His likeness, becoming more and more like Jesus.
PRAYER (Pray this out loud)
Lord, I pray that You would remind me that who I am in You is far more important that what I do for You. As I live out each day, remind me to shift my focus from what I am doing, to who I am becoming. Continue to shape my thinking, my decision-making, and even my very self into the image of Jesus. All for Your glory. Amen.
