One Small Slice

Your specific assignment is only one tiny slice of your calling.

2 Timothy 1:9 (NIV) says, “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.”

Usually, when it comes to ‘calling’, we immediately think of things that we want to do or are supposed to do for God.

We may think of our careers, our involvement in church, or even something specific that we feel God has called us to. These are aspects of calling, true.

But did you know that these are still only parts of a greater whole?

SELAH (Pause, think, reflect)

Calling isn’t just what we do, what we create, how we serve at church, our jobs, or the things God has put on our hearts to do for Him; it is also who He has called us to be and become. God calls us to be saved, holy, sanctified, loving, kind, set apart for the purposes and plans He has.

Your specific assignment is only one tiny slice of your calling. Today, instead of thinking of calling in terms of doing, remember to think of it in terms of who God has called you to be.

PRAYER (Pray this out loud)

God, thank You for calling me. I know You have given incredible things for me to do in this life, but even more than this, help me to remember that You have called me to know You, Jesus. Thank You for salvation, for the ability to live holy, for opportunities to become who You have called me to become. I know that it is all for You. Amen.

“Your specific assignment is only one tiny slice of your calling.”
