A Living Sacrifice

There’s so much that could be said about a life of worship, or the unique calling that each of us has, but one thing Scripture affirms is that we are called to be living sacrifices.

Romans 12:1 (NIV) says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

But how can something be living and yet sacrificed at the same time?

SELAH (Pause, think, reflect)

In your walk with the Lord, make the intentional, conscious decision to lay your life down at the altar of Christ.  Your everyday living, your unique gifts, your dreams, your desires, your calling, and even your very body—these all have the unique ability to be living and thriving, and yet offered to the Lord as a sacrifice to Him.

Simply put, this is the art of learning and living with the perspective that all things belong to God. It becomes worship, however, when we offer these things to Him.

PRAYER (Pray this out loud)

Lord, help me remember that all things are Yours. Give me a fresh perspective on how I can be a living sacrifice to You. I surrender all: my life, my calling, my very self. May it be holy and pleasing. All to Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.

We are called to be living sacrifices.”
