Have you ever struggled to take a backseat to others?
It can be easy to think in terms of our own individual needs or desires, but imagine what would happen in your life if you made decisions solely based on what would give God the most glory.
John 3:30 (NIV) says, “He must become greater; I must become less.”
In the kingdom of God, becoming less so that Christ can become greater doesn’t diminish your role, it fulfills it.
Putting yourself second to God may seem obvious enough, but what if we told you that putting others before yourself actually gives God glory?
SELAH (Pause, think, reflect)
Jesus once said, whoever wants to become great must be a servant of all. Another time, He said that He didn’t come to be served, but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many. If the King of kings and Lord of lords made His life on earth about others, we can be sure that we should too.
When we serve others and fix our efforts on making Jesus’ name great, we don’t miss out on our purpose in life, instead, just the opposite. As we serve others and magnify Jesus’ name we walk in the center of our purpose.
PRAYER (Pray this out loud)
Lord, today I acknowledge that You must become great and that I must become less. I pray that my life would always serve to make Your name great; to give You the glory You deserve. Give me a heart that serves others and wants to see them succeed before seeking my own success. In Jesus’ name, amen.
