The Spotlight

The spotlight you encounter will do nothing to grow or enhance your character or identity; it will only expose it.

Proverbs 10:9 (ESV) says, “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.”

Character is never built in the spotlight, but rather, before the spotlight. So why do we sometimes think that if we received the opportunities we prayed for, we would suddenly start being the person God has called us to be?

SELAH (Pause, think, reflect)

Gifting may open doors in life, and it may get us all kinds of opportunities, but when character and gifting go hand in hand, something truly special happens.

PRAYER (Pray this out loud)

Lord, I ask that You would shine Your light into my life. Illuminate the areas of my heart and character that need transformation. Search me and know me. Build my character in the secret place, and have Your will and way. Today, I chose to stand in the light of Your grace. Amen.

“The spotlight you encounter will do nothing to grow or enhance your character or identity; it will only expose it.”
